The Art of Evaluation: Strategic Questions & Program Impact

Join us for special 1/2 day mini-conference on program evaluation addressing:

  • who to track

  • what questions to ask, and

  • how to use your findings to tell your story

Increasingly, measuring what matters and reporting evaluation results are on our minds as our arts organizations strengthen focus on mission, articulate program goals, and work to meet funder requirements. Evaluation doesn't have to be a burden and, in fact, can be tailored to help you better advance your mission and do it with limited resources. Explore what a learning culture looks like and how to use reflective learning loops to improve your programs. David Scheie of Touchstone Center for Collaborative Inquiry will be our guide putting together an evaluation plan that is do-able and useful. And a panel of your peers will talk about how they are approaching program impact evaluation.
About David Scheie
David Scheie’s career has been fueled by curiosity about human and organizational systems, and by a desire to improve practice and policy in fields of community betterment and social action. An evaluation consultant and learning partner, David founded Touchstone Center for Collaborative Inquiry in 2004 after 17 years at Rainbow Research, Inc.
In his work, David helps organizations and networks clarify goals and strategies, track results, harvest lessons, and share and use those lessons for greater impact. He facilitates participatory approaches and reflective practice. Prominent themes in his work include civic engagement, youth and leadership development, and the role of arts and culture in human and community development.
David earned his B.A. in social studies from Harvard University and his Ph.D. in organization and community development from Union Institute and University. Prior to entering evaluation consulting, David was an award-winning community journalist. An avid runner and canoeist, active in his church, David lives with his family in Minneapolis.
About Touchstone Center for Collaborative Inquiry
This mission of Touchstone Center for Collaborative Inquiry is to foster learning and fuel improved practice within fields of social and community action. Founded in 2004, Touchstone specializes in collaborative and participatory evaluation projects for organizations and networks, having found that engagement in the process helps ensure that findings are used, that evaluation is focused on the most relevant questions, and that the evaluation is conducted in ways that can help advance rather than disrupt the work. Current and recent Touchstone projects include work in a national initiative on immigrant participation and reform, and on statewide and local projects focused on health and neighborhood learning communities.
We hope you can join us. Come for just a few hours if you can't make the full session!
Admission is free but advance registration is required.
