Quality Payment Program Boot Camps
\n\
n\n
Ready or Not\, the Quality Payment Program is Here to
Stay.
\nPerforming well under the Merit-based Incentive Payme
nt System (MIPS) has never been more important. Healthcare providers face
a 5% pay cut to all Medicare reimbursement based on their 2020 reporting&m
dash\;that number will jump to 7% in 2020 and 9% in 2020.
\nHowever\,
CMS has designated 2020 as a second "\;transition year\,"\; makin
g the reporting requirements easier to attain and giving savvy providers a
simpler path to avoid pay cuts and gain additional revenue. To do so\, yo
u'\;ll need to know how to select the right measures for your practice\
, put your electronic health record (EHR) to good use\, understand how cos
t scores can affect your performance\, and much more.
\nIf you&rsquo\
;ve already started to report measures but aren&rsquo\;t completely confid
ent that those measures are the best fit for your office\, The Quality Pay
ment Program Boot Camp has the answer. Join us for a comprehensive\, one-d

\nNew to MIPS? Here are the basics
\nIf you haven&rsquo\;t
reported MIPS for 2020 or 2020\, you may have trouble following the rest o
f our presentations. Even people who have reported could probably use a re
fresher. This session gets you up to speed on all the basic concepts &ndas
h\; eligibility requirements\, exclusions and exceptions\, scoring\, the v
arious methods of attestation and submission\, benchmarks\, etc. After thi
s session\, you&rsquo\;ll have a firm foundation on which to build your MI
PS success.

\nMIPS measu
res: Get selection and incorporation right or get ready for a pay cut
\nSelecting the measures for quality\, improvement activities an
d advancing care information is the vital first step towards preventing a
pay cut\, but it is very easy to stumble. The measures from each category
must be relevant and interesting to the clinician who will perform them\,
and it will take team work to make quality performance work at the practic
e. The practice must create processes that will incorporate performance of
the measures\, collection of the appropriate information and submission t
o Medicare into the practice&rsquo\;s workflow. This session will show you
how to overcome these challenges\, select measures that work for your cli
nicians and maximize your chances of MIPS success in the years to come.

\nImproving EHR Reporting: Why Taking Control of Your Measures Selecti
on Is Paramount
\nUsing your electronic health record (EHR)
to report measures can streamline your efforts\, but going too far down th
e path of automation can cause pain in the end. Ensure you&rsquo\;re selec
ting the measures that are the best fit for your practice and patients to
enhance your MIPS scores. Learn the best way to choose the most appropriat
e measures and avoid defaults that may harm your reporting efforts.

\nWhen it comes to the Cost category\,
what you don&rsquo\;t know can hurt you
\nThe Cost category
will count for 10% of your 2020 performance score and even more in subseq
uent years. You will be graded and compared to other providers based on sp
ecific cost measures that track your Medicare reimbursement. The kicker is
&ndash\; there is nothing for you to report. Medicare will calculate your
score based on its analysis of your claims for the year. But just because
you don&rsquo\;t have to report your costs doesn&rsquo\;t mean you can ig
nore this important section of MIPS. In this session\, learn how cost meas
ures are calculated and how you can check your progress and optimize your
cost score.

\nThe Cost category will count for 10% of your
2020 performance score and even more in subsequent years. You will be grad

ack your Medicare reimbursement. The kicker is &ndash\; there is nothing f
or you to report. Medicare will calculate your score based on its analysis
of your claims for the year. But just because you don&rsquo\;t have to re
port your costs doesn&rsquo\;t mean you can ignore this important section
of MIPS. In this session\, learn how cost measures are calculated and how
you can check your progress and optimize your cost score.

\nChallenging the quality p
erformance pay cut
\nWhen Medicare finds a practice didn&rsq
uo\;t succeed at quality performance\, the practice will have one chance t
o challenge the findings and avert a hefty pay cut. However\, the process
is confusing and complicated. Practices must access and review the quality
performance report card to understand why Medicare thinks it should apply
a pay cut before they can craft and submit a response. You&rsquo\;ll leav
e this session with the guidance you need to maximize the effectiveness of
your quality performance challenge.
\n4:30 p.m. &ndash\; 5:30 p.m.\n2020 final rule (proposed rule) Best practices for 2020 base
d on the 2020 final rule
\nGenerally what CMS puts in a prop
osed rule matches what&rsquo\;s in the final rule\, so get a jumpstart on
your 2020 MIPS plan with a breakdown of the proposed rule and its changes
that will almost certainly wind up in the final. This session gives you a
jump on the new order by reviewing all the proposed changes and analyzing
their potential impact on providers. Part B News will notify you if the fi
nal varies in a significant way.
